Concept Development

We designed a transformative set for “The Echo Chamber”, a conceptual performance blending theater, sound installation, and immersive visuals. The set acted as both stage and character—evolving throughout the performance to reflect emotional and narrative shifts.

The goal of the set design was to create a space that could shift from minimalist silence to chaotic symbolism, representing the internal psyche of the main character. Using modular structures, reactive lighting, and hidden mechanical elements, we built a dynamic environment that physically and emotionally responded to the story. The design prioritized sustainability, using reclaimed materials and a modular system that could be reconfigured for future use.

Concept Development

A name that blooms naturally.

The set was conceived as a "living organism"—starting as an empty, white space that gradually fractured, revealing textures, hidden doors, and lighting systems. We developed a narrative blueprint for the set itself, treating it as a metaphor for the breakdown of identity.

Materials & Structure

Raw, honest, and adaptable.

The structure was built using a modular steel frame and lightweight wood panels, allowing fast transitions between scenes. Surfaces included raw concrete textures, soft fabrics, translucent walls, and mirrors—each used strategically to reflect themes of confinement, reflection, and distortion.

Lighting & Movement

Shadows and motion as emotional tools.

We integrated DMX-controlled lighting directly into the set architecture. Moving walls, tilting floors, and reactive projections changed dynamically based on the character’s arc. Subtle shifts in shadow placement added tension without dialogue.

Color & Symbolism

Palette with a purpose.

The color scheme evolved through three acts: sterile whites → decaying grays → deep blues and crimson. Each transition was timed with the narrative tension. Symbolic props (a broken hourglass, pulsing walls, tangled cords) were embedded into the set for discovery by the audience.

Installation & Impact

A set that disappears into memory.

We designed the installation to be portable and modular for touring performances. The audience often commented they “felt inside a dream” or “forgot where the stage ended.”

The success of the design was measured by immersion: the set never called attention to itself, but enhanced every beat of the story, making it a silent protagonist in the performance.
